This meme made me laugh because honestly? Car crashes might be a better solution. Dating apps suck. We all know that. I deleted all mine about a month ago but I ultimately made a new hinge to try to find my future girlfriend. What I really wanted from my open marriage was the ability to sleep with women since I’m bisexual. I didn’t intend on falling in love with another man, him falling in love with me, and his wife killing my son…

Yeah… if you haven’t been keeping up you’ll just have to wait until I publish a whole ass book at this point. Anywho!

We all know dating apps suck so why do we keep using them? Honestly, because it doesn’t feel like there are a lot of other options. Not to discredit the Me Too movement, its message and intent are important, but a less than perfect side effect is that men don’t approach women in person anymore. And while I think tactfully and respectfully showing interest in a woman is okay, some women disagree.

Again, I am not trying to take away from the actual purpose of the movement. People shouldn’t be afraid to speak up against sexual assault or harassment. But women running to the internet to shame a guy that politely approached them while they were out shopping is not what Me Too is for.

Now, I’m a woman. Societally, I am more allowed to approach women. So that is not a factor for this scenario specifically. However, the benefit of dating apps for gays is knowing who is gay. It’s so much easier to not waste time sifting through all the straights. And I guess this also applies for the straights, knowing who is single (or otherwise available)!!

Despite these advantages, dating apps still suuuuuuck. At least as a woman I don’t have to pay for them. I feel bad for the desperate men that pay for the horrible experience but any woman above a three can at least go through dating app hell for free. Admittedly I, one time, paid an app for one month just so I could actually see all my likes and clean them up. But ultimately paying doesn’t seem worth it to me.

So what then do I recommend if dating apps aren’t the way? That’s a great question. Because personally I would stay away from coworkers. Don’t shit where you eat. And that used to be one of the main ways to meet a partner, as well as family friends or friends of friends.

I’d love to meet people through my friends but my friends are lame and don’t really branch outside of our current group. Dakota and I are the only branchers. My family isn’t going to set me up since I’m already married (and some of them might be a bit homophobic). What else is there?

I’ve been hoping to accidentally run into my future girlfriend. Have the courage to talk to a beautiful woman at the grocery store or the mall or the club. A happy accident that leads to something long term and real. But I can’t say I’ve had success so I can’t necessarily recommend that to anyone else either. Please feel free to leave a comment or send a message if you have wisdom to share with the class, but unfortunately I don't.

I guess if you’re going to take the approach of crashing cars, at least spend that dating app money to upgrade your insurance first.
