The Right to Bare Arms

For my occasional non-American reader, and my American readers in denial, the United States is no longer a democracy. Actually. I suspected some fuckery with our election due to some statistical anomalies but I didn’t want to be just like the crazy right wing nutjobs running around claiming “THEY STOLE THE ELECTION!!!” I thought surely if the election was fraudulent it would come to light and there would be repercussions. Well… More and more data is coming to light but I have less and less hope there will be any repercussions. I could start covering the insane number of ways we’re fucked that are all happening so quickly that our opposing politicians can’t seem to act fast enough to stop them but this isn’t a political blog.

Americans, very famously, have the right to bear arms. And I think it might be time to gear up.

I asked Ryan to go to a gun show with me on Friday (cute Valentine’s date!) but unfortunately he’s busy. Luckily Sean is also well-versed in guns so despite me preferring Ryan’s company I found someone that will help me be less lost. And also just help me blend in. Having a republican-looking man by my side will make me a bit more comfortable.

It has been interesting, descending into a fascist regime while in a polycule. We’ve discussed what pooling resources and defending land might look like. Probably unnecessary, but it was kind of fun to discuss apocalyptic hypotheticals that hopefully stay very hypothetical. The thing that is getting less and less hypothetical for me and Dakota is leaving the country. We feel like we’re going insane that everyone is so calm while our leaders essentially replicate the start of WWII step by step.

Ryan has always wanted to move to Germany. Something about their efficiency and love of nudity. I’m voting for Portugal or Italy, due to the year round nice weather and beaches. Being naked on an Italian beach with him sounds heavenly to be honest. Dakota was working on getting Irish citizenship by descent but that doesn’t seem like it will work out.

I’ve wondered what our dating lives look like if we move. It’s obviously nowhere near the most important factor in everything happening right now but I can’t help but wonder if there would be more or less stigma around homosexuality and polyamory wherever we end up.

I’ve joked that I might finally have found my Asian girlfriend I’ve been wanting just for us to pack up and move. Again, low on the list of bummers, but it’d still be on the list. This is a girl I’ve talked to on and off for years but she always ends up being super flaky. If she is actually not flaky this time it’s super awesome timing to do it right as we’re actively trying to find visas to apply for.

This is a short post that’s really just to let some of my anxiety out. I’m not sure it worked. Oh well.
